Customer Review: Doesn't quite fit our needs

We bought this product to replace a Garrity spotlight that had served us well for several years.
Pros: It's very lightweight with a comfortable ergonomic grip.
Cons: It would be better if there was a way to lock it into one of the three power levels. Having to click the button three times to get full power is nothing but an annoyance - we want full power immediately when checking on noises out in our horse pasture. Plus, as other reviewers have stated, recharge time is too long, and the battery life is far less than our previous spotlight.
Description of Vector VEC 117FS 1 Million Series Rechargeable Spotlight
The Vector Spotlight is a cordless, compact, powerful quartz halogen light for use whenever and whatever you need one. It's high intensity beam carries one mile and easily penetrates rain, fog and snow. It is 50% more focused on the target when it is at 1000 feet. It provides continuous spotlight use for up to 30 minutes when it's fully charged. High intensity beam carries one mile. Rubber safety guard around lens. The spotlight uses a powerful 6 volt, 4.5 amp hour non-spillable sealed battery. It also charges in a vehicle with 12 volt DC car cord or charge with 110 volt AC adapter. It also has a high impact ABS and polycarbonate break-proof housing. The tough and weatherproof Sport Spot Light 1,000,000 Candle Power is built for rugged, outdoor use. Provides continuous light for up to 30 minutes. For storage purposes the Spot Light also has a folding hanging hook. Vector's 1 Million Series light gives you the bright, tight beam that only a halogen bulb can provide. In terms of reliability, the VEC's anodized aluminum body and sealed battery make this an extremely durable product. Plus, it's rechargeable, and it has a battery status indicator so you'll know when it's time to plug it back in. A three-position dimmer switch allows you to use only the amount of power you need for the task at hand.
The VEC is comfortable to hold, thanks to the pistol grip, and feels solid without being too heavy for comfort.
